When will you contact parents to set lessons and time?
We will TEXT you the Wednesday or Thursday before lessons to offer you our available time slots in your selected time block.
Once you confirm the time – we will send you everything (details, etc) and then we will provide you with a swim diaper and wet bag on your first day.
What is Infant Self-Rescue or Survival Swim?
Infant Self-Rescue (ISR) or Survival Swim teaches babies and toddlers how to roll onto their backs, float, and breathe independently if they fall into water. These lessons give little ones the skills to save themselves in an emergency and help them develop confidence and respect for the water.
How young can my child start swim lessons?
We start lessons as young as 6 months old! At this age, infants are developmentally ready to learn basic breath control, floating, and survival responses through gentle, age-appropriate instruction.
Are survival swim lessons safe?
Yes, when taught by a certified instructor, these lessons are extremely safe. Each lesson is short, hands-on, and tailored to your child’s comfort level. Our goal is always safety first, followed by confidence and fun.
How long will it take for my child to learn to float or swim?
Every child learns at their own pace, but most complete the core survival skills within 4–6 weeks of consistent lessons. We celebrate every milestone along the way!
Why are swim lessons so important for young children?
Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death for children under five — but it’s also preventable. Early swim lessons teach life-saving skills, build water confidence, and give parents peace of mind.
What’s the difference between traditional swim lessons and survival swim lessons?
Traditional lessons focus on strokes and play, while survival swim focuses on self-rescue — teaching infants and toddlers how to roll, float, and breathe independently if they ever fall into the water unsupervised.
Will my child be scared or cry during lessons?
It’s normal for little ones to be unsure at first! New experiences can feel different, but we create a calm, positive, and supportive environment. Most children quickly gain comfort and confidence once they realize they can do it.
How can parents help with water safety at home?
Supervision is the most important factor. Always keep a close eye when children are near water — even a few inches. Install pool fences and alarms, learn CPR, and make swim lessons a consistent part of your child’s safety routine.
Should my child continue lessons after they learn survival skills?
Absolutely! Once your child masters self-rescue, we move into maintenance and stroke-development lessons, helping them grow into confident, capable swimmers who truly love the water.
What makes Gold Coast Survival Swim different?
We combine safety and skill with heart. Our approach is child-centered, gentle, and focused on building confidence — not just survival. Each lesson is customized to your child, helping them learn essential water skills while creating joyful, lasting memories.
